As Golf Digest’s former fashion director, I met many eager and enthusiastic young designers who showed up at my door with samples, a well-rehearsed elevator pitch and dreams of disrupting the sport’s apparel market. That’s how I met a savvy young man named Andrew Redvanly ten years ago. I immediately saw something special in him. As an athlete himself with a sharp eye for design, his enthusiasm and drive were on full display. He had recognized an opportunity to bring technical products, made with modern materials, to golf and tennis in a way that felt both functional and stylish. Andrew knew right from the start that to succeed, REDVANLY needed its own unique DNA, something to offer customers that would set his namesake brand apart and keep them coming back.
For REDVANLY, that “secret sauce,” as I like to call it, that first broke through the market was in the brand’s waistbands. Andrew had cleverly recognized that few companies in golf were focusing on the functionality of bottoms, so he set his sights there. After studying the comfort and stretch of basketball shorts, his team was inspired to bring the easy pull-on element of the sporting staple to a pant with more versatility that would work on the golf course as well.

Move the clock ten years forward to today, and history has proven that Andrew did indeed have a unique product that was fresh to the market. Today, many of his competitors in the marketplace are trying to copy REDVANLY’s style of stretch waistband in their own pants, something Andrew—always the good sport—sees as a validating compliment of his company’s relevance and long-term staying power. While other brands busy themselves trying to mimic REDVANLY’s past success, Andrew and his team continue to look forward to furthering the innovations in golf apparel—in bottoms and beyond.
Today REDVANLY has rocketed into a full-service brand. It now offers sweaters, socks, headwear, thermal gear, layering pieces, footwear, underwear, golf gloves, belts and stylish golf accessories like headcovers—each designed with the same high-level attention to detail, functionality and quality. In REDVANLY’s signature line of pants, Andrew and his team have exciting developments on the horizon, including chinos, a nice men’s twill dress pant, and, perhaps the biggest gamechanger, jeans.

“We knew it was unique and different, and obviously our customer is already wearing jeans off the course, so we want to service that need,” Andrew told me when we caught up. “We’re trying to cover every category in terms of that pull-on waistband, so the men who buy our clothes can not only look the part but feel great doing it.”
At this year’s PGA Show in Florida, I got to experience the new REDVANLY denim firsthand, which will also be available in a shorts option. Discerning golfers will appreciate the stretch and fit off the fairways, but the comfortable waistband and stylish look might have them itching to sport the look on the links as well. My bet is that some modern clubs are going to see that this elevated take on denim is stylish and tasteful and will even permit them on the course—at least eventually!

“Everything we’re doing is derived from sport and from golf,” Andrew said. “I do think we might be able to push denim into golf more than it’s ever been pushed before, especially once people see what we’ve created. If there’s going to be anybody who can do it, who can make jeans acceptable at certain courses, and look sporty and respectful, it’s going to be us.”
This value of honoring the game and pushing the boundaries of the technical capabilities and functionality of the apparel is at the core of Andrew’s vision. That’s why you’ll rarely see REDVANLY run a sale. Andrew wants customers to know that when they shop with REDVANLY, they’re already getting the best quality at a fair price. It’s this commitment to excellence that has helped REDVANLY resonate with a wide range of customers. Over the years, the brand has earned a loyal following across generations—embraced by young, style-conscious golfers redefining the game’s aesthetic, traditional players who appreciate a refined yet performance-driven approach, and even those who simply appreciate the elevated comfort and modern fit of REDVANLY’s lifestyle pieces beyond the course.
In terms of driving the sport’s style, you might wonder just how “far out” is REDVANLY willing to go? Andrew says it’s all about the brand’s relentless desire to innovate.
“We’re respecting the game and maintaining the brand’s relevance while maximizing growth,” he said. “We are owning a space in terms of bottoms offering, so we’re not afraid to keep pushing it a bit further.”
