Five years ago, Si Woo Kim introduced himself to the American golf fans by telling them to “shhhhh” at the 2017 Presidents Cup at Liberty National. The problem? Kim’s International team was getting trounced, like zero-chance-of-winning trounced, which made Kim’s shush equally odd and bold at the same time. If anything, the US crowd took it as a cute little move from the enemy.

There was nothing cute about it on Sunday at Quail Hollow, however, where Kim broke out his sigature “shhh” once again at the 2022 Presidents Cup. This time, Kim’s team was very much alive, and Kim just so happened to be going toe-to-toe with one of the US team’s best players this week – Justin Thomas.

At the 15th hole, Kim tied the match with a pure roll from inside of 10 feet, then made his vintage gesture, which he followed with a vicious fist pump as if to say “oh, it’s ON on.” Thomas, watching from a distance, didn’t seem to enjoy it, nor did the home crowd:

THIS TOUR!!!!

As if this match wasn’t already tense enough, here was Thomas earlier in the day looking visibly miffed that Kim didn’t give him a putt inside of three feet.

We’re not professional lip-readers, but it seems safe to say Thomas said something along the lines of “what the f— are we doing out here?!” Again … THIS TOUR!!

Following Kim’s “shhh,” he birdied the very next hole to take a 1 up lead, yet again showing some serious emotion afterwards:

Thomas responded with a birdie of his own at the very next hole, squaring the match with one to play. But Kim would ultimately prevail, closing out the match in style with a birdie at the last to claim bragging rights and keep the Internationals hopes of a comeback well and truly alive.
