The 17th and 18th holes have wreaked havoc on the field these past two days at TPC Sawgrass.

Surprisingly, most players have taken the pain in stride, employing an “it is what it is” approach.

As for Matthew Wolff … not so much.

To be fair, Wolff didn’t exactly throw a temper tantrum. On the 18th hole, turned out to be his final hole of the 2022 Players Championship, Wolff found the water with his tee shot, then took a drop in the left rough and hit a poor approach well right of the green. He then delivered us the most casual club toss in club-toss history:

Big time #done energy. No need for wind-ups or helicopter throws. Just flip it and peace out. We respect it.

Wolff went on to make double-bogey on the hole, shooting a second-round 81 to miss the cut by seven shots. This will mark his third missed cut in five starts in 2022, and his sixth round of 76 or worse in his last 15 rounds on tour. The struggle is very, very real for the 2020 US Open runner-up.
