Nelly Korda has sounded off on the tech-infused golf league, WTGL, as it gets set to start its inaugural season later this year, according to a report.

The world No.2 hoped the TGL – started by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy – would be a mixed-team format with male and female golfers. That’s not the case, with the recent announcement of WTGL’s formation by TMRW Sports.
“I have mixed feelings on it, if I’m being very honest,” Korda told Golfweek. “I’m surprised no other girls have, or no one’s really spoken out about it. I think it’s a huge and unbelievable miss that we’re not playing alongside the men. There’s no greater way to grow the game, and it would have been revolutionary. It would have been the first time, I think, that men and women are on the same playing field, playing for the same exact amount of money. But I also think it’s great that we are getting this opportunity, so that’s my mixed feelings.”
Korda spoke out about the new league ahead of the LPGA Tour’s season-opening Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in Orlando.
She has one of the most powerful voices in the game, and she’s using it to voice her displeasure. She’s not sure if she’ll participate, but the league isn’t expected to tee off until December.
“I’m just still weighing out the time commitment,” Korda said. “I just haven’t really thought about it too much, because I’ve been really focused on trying to get ready for this season. I think logistically, they’re still trying to figure some stuff out, so I will just weigh out my options in the near future.”

Korda has won 15 career LPGA events, including two majors, and commands among the biggest galleries on the tour. If she didn’t participate in the WTGL, it would be a glaring omission.
The team matchplay for the women will be similar to the six-team TGL that is currently playing its second season at the SoFi Center in West Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
On the same day Korda questioned moves by the WTGL, the league announced the signing of two former world amateur No.1s – American Rose Zhang and Englishwoman Lottie Woad. Last week, the WTGL announced its first wave of golfers who committed: current world No.1 Jeeno Thitikul, Lydia Ko, Lexi Thompson, Brooke Henderson and Charley Hull.
