If it feels like Megha Ganne has been around for a long time, she kind of has. Four years ago, the then-17-year-old played in the final pairing of the 2021 U.S. Women’s Open, competing alongside eventual winner Yuka Saso while earning top amateur honors.
Ganne has also competed at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur five times, won a national title at Stanford, plus she also took Lottie Woad, who has won multiple times on the LPGA Tour this summer, last year at NCAAs.
Last weekend, Ganne one-upped herself and took down the biggest individual title of her career, winning the 2025 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at one of the best golf destinations in the world, Bandon Dunes.
“I’d say a big motivator was I didn’t want to leave that place, so I didn’t want to get knocked out,” Ganne told us on our latest episode of Golf Digest’s ‘The Loop’ podcast.

Ganne did a good job at that, soaking up all the time at Bandon Dunes. She said it’s been a whirlwind since then—getting text messages from two of golf’s biggest women’s golf legends, Annika Sorenstam and Nancy Lopez, plus hundreds of others who have reached out.
“I’m making a firm point to reach back out to everybody,” Ganne said. “I’m just so grateful for the outpouring of support.”
At just 21 years old, Ganne has accomplished a ton in the game—but she has her sights on next season, her final year at Stanford University before she turns pro and tries to make a similar impact to Woad on the LPGA Tour.
Ganne joined us to discuss her journey to winning the 2025 U.S. Women’s Amateur, continuing an epic summer for New Jersey golf following Chris Gotterup’s big win in Scotland and his run at the Open Championship. We also talked about her unfortunate bout with food poisioning ahead of last year’s Women’s Amateur, forcing her to WD before the event started, her now hilariously egregious list of her top-five favorite courses and much more.
