Rickie Fowler is one of golf’s marquee names, but – thanks to Tiger Woods’ return and a host of other intriguing storylines – the 29-year-old was somewhat lost in the Masters’ buildup. Fowler’s doing his best to rectify that wrong.
After shooting a respectable two-under 70 in Round 1, Fowler is staying afloat on a difficult Day 2 at Augusta National. A standing supported by this marvellous save by Fowler at the sixth.
For context, Fowler’s tee shot got clipped by trees, leaving 20 yards or so for his chip. He failed to get that anywhere close, and it appeared Fowler would be lucky to leave with bogey.
But he recorded a different number on his card, dropping a 66-foot bomb to send a roar throughout the property:

Fowler has a strong track record at Augusta, with three top-12 finishes in the past four years. Mentioned above, there are a number of interesting permutations in how this tournament plays out. Fowler winning his first Major would be right among the best.
