TRUE linkswear’s all-new golf shoe, the Eco Knit, is created from recycled post consumer plastics and it’s now available in Australia, through TRUE’s local distributor, Jack Oliver Golf.
The knitted upper on the Eco Knit is derived from recycled post-consumer plastics that have been re- purposed into polyester yarn. “We’re literally taking the water bottles and plastic goods that end up in our ocean and turning them into shoes”, says TRUE Founder and President, Jason Moore. “It sounds like magic, but really it’s just a practical way to make high quality, durable shoes in a sustainable way.”
“When we learned about new sustainable manufacturing techniques that will allow our back yard, and the planet itself to stay in more pristine shape, we instantly knew we wanted to be a part of the movement. Sustainable manufacturing in footwear is not common practice. In fact, it’s going to take a huge shift in thinking to start making a difference. The type of momentum shift that we’re hoping the Eco Knit will help inspire.”
The new model was launched at this year’s PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando and has since racked up a tonne of positive feedback for its ultra light weight, superb breathability and versatile, everyday tread.
The Eco Knit is just the start, with the new model building on a greater push towards overall sustainability for the up and coming brand. Late last year, the company started ditching the traditional cardboard shoe box on all of their new models, in favour of quality, reusable shoe bags.
“The shoe bags are a great initiative”, says Sam Boden from Jack Oliver Golf. “While they’re a bit more challenging to warehouse than stackable boxes, there’s less wastage and our customers get a fantastic bag to either keep their shoes in, or use for any number of other things.” Being based on
the scenic Mornington Peninsula, sustainability is something Jack Oliver Golf is also passionate about. “We’re following TRUE’s lead wherever we can”, says Sam, “including using home compostable mailing satchels for all of our products.”
The new TRUE Eco Knit is available now for $159 via the Jack Oliver Golf website and selected stockists. To learn more, visit jackolivergolf.com.au/eco-knit
