Trailing by six strokes entering the final round, Wood closed with a two-over 72 to clinch outright third as 2024 ISPS Handa Australian All Abilities champion Simon Seungmin Lee (71) closing with five straight pars to edge Cameroon’s Issa Nlareb A Amang (73) by a shot.
Runner-up to Brendan Lawlor 12 months ago, Wood was able to turn the tables on the Irishman in the ST3 Class, his nine-over total for three rounds giving him a two-stroke victory.

After a challenging start, Wood responded in impressive fashion at Celtic Manor Resort.
He made a bogey at the par-5 second hole then double-bogeyed the par-5 fifth to be three-over par early in his final round. Birdies at nine and 10 provided a welcome change in momentum before another dropped shot at the par-3 11th.
A PGA professional for the past two years after completing the PGA’s Membership Pathway Program, Wood picked up another shot with birdie at the par-4 15th, a bogey on 17 seeing him finish six strokes behind Lee.
Making his G4D Open debut, quadriplegic golfer James Gribble finished second in the Seated 1 Sport Class.
