LIV Golf’s second Adelaide event was a smash hit for the league by most accounts with frenzied crowds and a dramatic finish won by the Aussie-represented Ripper GC. But not everyone left South Australia in high spirits.

Take Kevin Na. His Iron Heads team had a chance to win their first team title entering the third and final round just one shot off the lead. But a disappointing day dropped them to sixth place. And a disastrous hole by Na didn’t help.

Na began on the 10th hole with a bogey, but then played excellent golf after that, racking up six birdies and no bogeys in his next 16 holes. In fact, he’d made four birdies in a row when he reached the par-5 ninth (what is normally the 18th on the Grange Golf Club’s East course), his final hole of the day. Then things really came undone.

Na found himself in a particularly sandy lie in the scrub after an errant shot. And after failing to get his ball back to the fairway on his first attempt, his second hit a tree branch and stayed in trouble. Let’s just say he wasn’t pleased with the situation. Have a look and listen:

Tough spot. Literally. “Seriously, this is f–king bulls–t,” you can hear Na say in the video before his caddie tells him to take a “deep breath”. After the first failed attempt, Na slaps his bag before switching clubs. Not that it helped.

You can hear one fan mutter “One of us!” before Na’s failed second attempt. We’re guessing that didn’t help, either. Na wound up making double-bogey (not that bad all things considered!) and shooting 69 to finish T-34 in the individual competition won by Brendan Steele.

On the bright side for Kevin, this doesn’t touch Na’s infamous blow-up hole at the 2011 Valero Texas Open. That year he made a 16 – also on a ninth hole – at TPC San Antonio. OK, so that probably won’t help Na deal with this one, either.
