A two-step process to ensure you save more pars.

Good players, like club golfers, miss greens. What better players do far more often than club golfers, however, is convert that miss into a par with a well-executed up-and-down.

In this issue and next, we will break down the keys to getting up-and-down more often, and it starts well before you touch a club.

Know your shot

Before playing any shot around the green, there are three steps you should take:

1. Select an intermediate target.

2. Evaluate the trajectory you need.

3. Choose the club necessary to create that trajectory.

Too often, club golfers select the trusty wedge they use in every situation without fully evaluating the shot they need to hit the ball as close to the hole as possible.

Based on those three things, you will know exactly where you want the ball to land, how much the ball will roll out and which shot will deliver the best result. Then it’s simply a matter of making the putt…
