Jason Day is starting 2024 fresh with a new look. The former World No.1 has signed a deal with Malbon Golf and will wear the company’s apparel beginning this week when he competes in The Sentry, the PGA Tour’s season-opening tournament.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Day, 36, had spent the previous seven years wearing Nike. Prior to that, Day had a deal with Adidas that began when the Queenslander turned pro in 2006. After 17 years with two of the most recognisable brands in sport, Day admits his connection to his on-course style has been a bit on autopilot.

“There have been times that I’d be standing on the first tee and look over to see another golfer in essentially the same outfit as me,” Day said. “I’m excited to be able to go outside of the box and wear something that’s dramatically different than what everyone is used to seeing in golf today”

Coming in as Malbon Golf’s first ambassador on the PGA Tour, Day joins a team that also includes Jesper Parnevik and Charley Hull.

In his last tournament wearing Nike, Day went out on a high note, winning last month’s Grant Thornton Invitational title with teammate Lydia Ko – a golfer who also likes to shake things up style-wise.

Day says the plan for his look in 2024 will be a bit more loose-fitting and a lot more head-turning. The campaign imagery for his signing announcement showed Day in a relaxed mockneck top paired with patterned pants. He has wear-tested oversized crewnecks, fashion-forward vests, letterman jackets – and is even in talks about possibly wearing a rugby-style shirt on tour in the future.

“Being an ambassador for Malbon means being able to wear stuff that I typically wouldn’t wear on the golf course a professional golfer, but it’s what I wear at home,” Day said. “Maybe this is another door opening where I can actually feel relaxed on the golf course like I do at home and really refine that look.”
