PXG

0211

What it does: The 0211 line of fairway woods borrows the noteworthy technologies of PXG’s more advanced (and more expensive) 0311 models and puts them in a package that encourages forgiveness. In other words, it’s a Robin Hood approach to golf-club design: stealing from the rich to give to the poor. These fairway woods start with the same high-strength steel alloys found in the face and body of the 0311 line. This means a faster face and a more stable body that resists twisting on off-centre hits. A robotic polishing technique ensures more consistent face thicknesses, edges and curves.

Why we like it: Average golfers might take for granted the shape of a fairway wood (how different can it be, really?), but equipment designers don’t. The 0211’s squarish face shape isn’t for the sake of being different. It’s intended to lower the heel and toe sections to create more hittable areas low on the face, where most average golfers make contact. The boxier shape of the perimeter walls also helps create stability on mis-hits. It’s an effective approach, and PXG keeps it simple with the three lofts most average golfers need: a 3-wood, 5-wood and 7-wood.

Lofts 15, 18, 21

Reviewer profile

“I like the low profile and how it sits square. Gives me the confidence that I can hit it straight. It has a balanced feel, which helps with tempo.”
