It’s the 20th anniversary of the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship and there is a star-studded field at Pinnacle Country Club to help celebrate. Fifteen of the top 30 ranked players in the world are in Rogers, Ark., as are 18 of the 24 players from the Solheim Cup two weeks ago in the Netherlands.
They’ll all be playing for the $3 million purse with the winner taking home $450,000 for a victory. World No. 5 Miyu Yamashita is the highest ranked player in the field.
Ten of the 12 players from the winning European Solheim Cup team are here for the 54-hole event, with Englishwoman Charley Hull and Lottie Woad leading the way. Celine Boutier, Carlota Ciganda, Linn Grant, Nanna Koerstz Madsen, Julia Lopez Ramirez, Leona Maguire, Nastasia Nadaud and Mimi Rhodes are the others.
The losing U.S. team has eight players who made the trip: Lauren Coughlin, Megan Khang, Auston Kim, Jennifer Kupcho, Andrea Lee, Yealimi Noh, Angel Yin and Rose Zhang.
After this week the LPGA heads to Hawaii and then to Asia for four events. It returns to the U.S. in mid-November to end the season with two events in Florida.
