Maybe, just maybe, you’ll get paired with someone you kind of know on the golf course. Perhaps you’re from the same city or have some background in common or know a mutual golfer. That’s the beauty of playing golf alone: you get to meet new people while getting in 18 holes.

Sometimes, however, you get partnered with the woman who used to be bullied by your mother. This is a very rare case, of course, but if this Reddit account is true, we all have something to watch out for next time we test out a new track.

Got paired with a woman my Mom bullied in high school.

“I got paired with a single woman today and we’re having some friendly banter and she tells me she’s from X city and come to find out she went to high school with my Mum,” starts one of the more bizarre r/golf posts of the year. “My mum by her own account was a mean girl in high school, although she’s since changed her ways. So anyways she didn’t say anything for a while but she brought it up again 4 holes after chatting about it and says, you know your mum used to bully me in high school. She went into great detail about how it made her life miserable.

“I told her that my Mum has admitted she’s ashamed of how she treated others when she was younger. After that she changed the subject and we continued to have a great conversation. She just moved to the area and I gave her my number if she ever wanted to golf.”

Now, this is quite the meet-up. What are the odds? I guess it depends on how widespread the mother’s bullying was, perhaps a much greater percentage than one might think.

Anyway, the two ended up exchanging numbers, because… well, because they did. And they got drinks later that night. Let’s allow the OP to continue the story from here.

“We ended up back at the bar and she told me she’s recently divorced and her two kids both have finally moved out which is why she finally decided to relocate. I could tell she was really lonely and maybe that’s why she was drinking so much.

“After telling me her life story she did become really flirtatious, to the point it made me uncomfortable. She kept asking me to flex and told me she was staring at my ass the whole time we golfed.”

Flirting with your old bully’s offspring is quite the vengeance play. Certainly the long game by this golfer and mother of two. We need to know if this woman planned this all or just went after such fortuitous circumstances. You can never bet against a vindictive golfer.

The following is where the post (unfortunately) concludes, leaving us wanting more while also giving us just enough. A masterful storyteller…

“I told her I was getting tired and I offered her a ride home. I opened the door to let her out and she gave me a big hug and told me she really enjoyed herself. She gave me a kiss and I walked her to the door. She kissed me rather awkwardly again because she tried to shove her tongue down my throat. She did leave her coat in my truck so I expect I’ll be seeing her again.”
