Less than two months after undergoing a lengthy surgery to remove a lesion on his brain, Gary Woodland already seems intent on making his return to competitive golf.
The four-time PGA Tour winner and 2019 U.S. Open champion posted a swing video on Monday with an optimistic message.
“This journey has been very hard but I’m extremely thankful to be progressing and for the unconditional love and support from everyone,” Woodland wrote on Twitter. “You’ve all made this process a little easier for me and my family. Thank you to everyone and I look forward seeing you all next year.”

Woodland’s message was well received on Golf Twitter, including by fellow major champion, Australian Steve Elkington.

While Woodland didn’t offer any other details about his timetable, the post is obviously a great sign that he’s recovering nicely.
Woodland, 39, last played at the Wyndham Championship in August. Just days after his operation on September 18, the popular tour pro and former “Jayhawk” had the golf complex at the University of Kansas named after him.
