3 - Cape Wickham

3. Cape Wickham Links   *New*
Highest ranking – 3 (2016)

The most anticipated new arrival since Barnbougle Dunes 10 years ago, Cape Wickham debuts at No.3 with a bullet. The King Island gem scored high marks for design and memorability, and finished less than 0.3 of a point (out of 50) behind Kingston Heath. Not bad considering its infancy, and the fact the all-fescue links ranked outside the Top 100 in Australia for conditioning. “If I could only play one more course in Australia for the rest of my life, it would be Cape Wickham,” says judge Nick Tuddenham. “The most memorable golf course I have played in Australia, comfortably,” adds fellow panel member James Ponder. Expect improvement with two years additional turf growth, making this Bass Strait beauty a genuine contender for the No.1 spot in the near future.
