On his podcast, ‘The Smylie Show,’ the NBC on-course reporter explained that the shot flew into the crowd at approximately “3,000 mph,” leaving Gotterup with a tricky shot up against a tree. Unbelievable stuff. We knew the Rutgers product could move it, but we didn’t know he had it like that. He literally branded this poor guy WITH A GOLF BALL. We’ve iced countless welts and nursed plenty of bruises over the years, but we’ve never seen anything like this. From the sound of things, Bridgestone is trying to find this guy, presumably to offer him a couple of free sleeves, but if we were him, the last thing we’d want to see right now is more golf balls.
