If you look for odds for the PNC Championship via a betting agency, most will have the father-son duo of Tiger and Charlie Woods, a.k.a. Team Woods, among the favourites.

Those jumping at the chance to bet on Team Woods should proceed with caution, however. And not because of any competitive rust concerns for Tiger.

According to a report from Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis, Charlie, who will turn 15 in February, will be moving back one set of tees for the 2023 edition of the PNC Championship.

In his first two appearances at the PNC, Charlie played from right about 5,500 metres (6,000 yards). Last year, after he turned 13, he moved back to roughly 6,000 metres (6,500 yards), playing the same set of tees as the pros ages 65-72, a group that included Bernhard Langer, Mark O’Meara, Nick Price and Nick Faldo. There are a variety of tees this week at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, and all of them are age-based unless otherwise requested.

Another year older, Charlie will now play the set that’s nearly 6,000 metres, the same set as former women’s world No.1 Nelly Korda. His dad will play the tips, which stretch longer than 6,400 metres (7,000 yards).

This marks Team Woods’ fourth appearance in the PNC Championship, where they have a high finish of runner-up in 2021. They will play in the pro-am tonight, Australian time, while tee-times for the two-day competition begins late tomorrow night, Australian time.
