Open Championship winner Cameron Smith has announced a rebrand of his all-Australian LIV Golf team for the 2023 season – “Ripper Golf Club”. Smith joined the Saudi-backed LIV two months after winning the Open at St Andrews and his teammates were Wade Ormsby, Marc Leishman and Matt Jones. The team was called Punch GC in the first season.

Smith alluded to the team name in a previous interview ahead of the rebranding.

“Yes it’s really exciting. I can’t wait for us to start up in Mexico,” Smith said in a pre-tournament press conference at the Saudi International tournament recently. “I think we’ll have a great year. And for sure looking forward to that event in Adelaide. I think it will be a ripping tournament.”
