Australian golfer Adam Scott has started his 2017 PGA campaign in solid fashion, firing a three-under-par 68 in the first round of the Genesis Open at Riviera Country Club in California on Thursday (Friday AEDT).

But the talk quickly moved to the 36-year-old’s wider calendar, with Scott announcing his wife Marie Kojzar is pregnant with the couple’s second child, with a due date of late August.

The world No.7 confirmed the birth was likely to coincide with the first round of the FedEx Cup playoff series, the Northern Trust Open, which was formerly named the Barclays Championship.

Bahamas-based Scott said he would take that week off.

“We have another one on the way, (due in) August (at) the Barclays.

“It’s likely I shall not be there. Hopefully I can play well enough to afford myself the week off the FedEx.”

Scott became a father for the first time in February 2015, welcoming daughter Bo Vera to the family.
