The Sunday before “Golf’s Longest Day,” AKA U.S. Open Final Qualifying Day, often doubles as an episode of The Amazing Race for many top-level tour pros. There has unfortunately already been some bad travel luck for some, while others, like Ben Kohles, were able to reach their final destination in time.

Kohles, who was slotted to compete at the Rockville, Md., site at Woodmont Country Club, was busy winning a tournament in Spartanburg, S.C. on Sunday. He commanded such a lead after 54 holes at the BMW Charity Pro-am on the Korn Ferry Tour that he was able to shoot even par in the final round and still win by four. This marked his fifth win on the KFT, tying him for the seventh-most all-time.

Following the victory, Kohles had to make a run for the Charlotte airport – literally. But not before first saying goodbye to the family, specifically his two daughers. The stuff that warms the heart.

The Korn Ferry Tour’s social account captured it all below:

Man, that 1:21 mark, when Kohles’ older daughter asks for one more kiss, and then asks if he’ll be back home tomorrow? We’re not crying, you’re crying.

As Kohles had to inform her, he would be back in a couple days. He did make it to Maryland in time and is currently even par over his first five holes. He’s still got a long ways to go, but the adrenaline of the last 48 hours should carry him all the way to the finish line.
