Two of the top 10 golfers in the Official World Golf Rankings—Wyndham Clark and Xander Schauffele—will lead a strong field in Japan this week at the Baycurrent Classic, previously known as the Zozo Championship. For the second straight year, this event will be played at the Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw-designed Yokohama Country Club, as Schauffele looks to defend his title.
Collin Morikawa, Jacob Bridgeman, Ryan Gerard, Hideki Matsuyama, Justin Thomas and Min Woo Lee will all be teeing it up in Japan on Wednesday evening in the U.S., along with a foursome of Japanese golfers with sponsor exemptions. Takumi Kanaya finished T-4 last year after a stellar final-round 62. And he’ll be joined by Keita Nakajima jockeying for a top-100 FedEx Cup spot, three-time Japan Golf Tour winner Jinichiro Kozuma and amateur Koshin Nagasaki, who claimed his spot by winning a qualifier.

Previous Next Pause Play false Private Yokohama Country Club: West Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan The Takeo Aiyama-designed West Course at Yokohama Country Club opened in 1960 and was later remodeled by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw in 2015. The 2015 remodel focused on adding elevation to tees and fairways, as well as remodeling bunkers to make the existing natural undulations more dramatic. The course is known for wide fairways framed by dense clusters of pine trees, sprawling undulations, and classic Coore and Crenshaw bunkering. The front nine is highlighted by the downhill par-4 fourth protected by a hidden pond on the right side as well as a stand alone tree in the center of the fairway. The back-nine features the intimidating par-3 12th playing over a water hazard to a raised green surrounded by bunkers on each side. The West course at Yokohama Country Club beautifully balances the original use of natural valleys and ridges with the stunning remodeling by Coore and Crenshaw. View Course
Schauffele won last year’s Baycurrent by a shot over Max Greyserman. It was his 10th PGA Tour win, but his first since the 2024 Open victory. The two-time major champ shot a Sunday 64, including a 13-foot birdie on No. 17 to hold off the rest of the field.
This week’s winner will receive a $1.44 million cut of the $8 million purse.
