ADAM Scott has stormed into contention at The Open championship following a flawless round of 67 on a rain-delayed second day.

The 2013 Masters champion enjoyed five birdies and no bogeys to lift himself to 7-under for the tournament, tied for fifth place three shots adrift of leader Dustin Johnson at 10-under.

Though DJ (and many others in the field) was affected with yet another weather delay and had only played 13 holes of his second round, with play to resume at 4pm AEST.

Jason Day remains our top Aussie in a share of third after following his masterful opening round of 66 with three birdies and a bogey to reach 8-under par before his second round was halted.

Geoff Ogilvy is also in the mix after a 4-under par 68 moved him to 5-under. He joins fellow Aussie Steve Bowditch
