In golf, there’s speed and there’s speed. For Australian long-drive star Thomas Fliniks, he might just have moved the bar into a category all of his own.

With a blow of 378.36km/h, Fliniks broke the Guinness World Record for the fastest drive in golf – a record that had stood since 2013. The feat took place on February 13, but has just been acknowledged by GWR. Watch how it unfolded here:

“I thought a little while ago as my number started climbing, Might I have a look at what the world record is?” Fliniks told the Guinness World Records website.

American Ryan Winther had owned the mark with a drive clocked at 349.38km/h (217.1mph) in 2013, but Fliniks’ bomb easily surpassed Winther’s efforts.

As the GWR website notes, Flinik’s drive is faster than the top speed of a Porsche 911 (328km/h), faster than the CRH-3 train in China (354km/h) and not far off the diving speed of a peregrine falcon (389km/h).

Yes, we do want Fliniks on our ambrose side next time we tee it up!
