Smyth joined six-time Major champion and reigning PGA Championship winner Phil Mickelson at Royal Greens Golf and Country Club, near Jeddah.

But Smyth, who plays on the Asian Tour, wasn’t starstruck by ‘Lefty’ – instead playfully sledging Mickelson about outdriving the American golf great on the ninth hole.

“I’m here at the ninth hole at Royal Greens and look who I outdrove,” he said, pointing the camera around to Mickelson.

“Apparently, he hits ‘bombs’ but I’ll tell you … I necked that and I still outdrove you.”

Mickelson responds, “I am 51.”

“Do you like beating up on an old man? Is that your thing?” Mickelson jokes.

The Saudi International – the strongest field in the history of the Asian Tour – will include players from 32 countries including two-time Saudi winner Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Xander Schauffele, Cameron Smith, Phil Mickelson and Abraham Ancer.
