Newly-minted PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp has enlisted Australia’s Adam Scott and Tiger Woods with building the “best professional golf model” as part of a new consortium of players and business leaders that the former NFL executive dubbed the Future Competition Committee.

The committee will be comprised of tour pros and heavy hitters from the sports business world who will aim to increase the PGA Tour’s “meritocratic structure and fan engagement.” The top US golf circuit believes that can be achieved by bringing the best-ranked players together more often as well as by creating a stronger link between the regular season and the finals. The latter, the PGA Tour says, will boost the Tour Championship.
The 2013 Masters champion Scott—who missed this year’s FedEx Cup playoffs—has been one of the PGA Tour’s clearest and most measured voices through the golf’s fractured period between the established tours and LIV Golf.
As a former chair of the PGA Tour’s Player Advisory Council (PAC), 14-time winner Scott has been involved with high-level discussions over the past two years. The former world No.1 even joined Woods at the White House in Washington DC earlier this year to meet with US President Donald Trump to talk about the negotiations between the two tours.
Broader reunification talks have cooled and LIV Golf has already published a full 2026 schedule, with its flagship Adelaide tournament locked in through 2031.
The Future Competition Committee’s player bloc features Woods, Scott, Patrick Cantlay, Camilo Villegas, Maverick McNealy and Keith Mitchell, as well as business advisers Joe Gorder (PGA Tour board chair), John Henry (Fenway Sports Group) and Theo Epstein.
Woods will chair the committee and will review the current competitive model for its viability and appeal.
“Honoured to serve as Chairman of the Future Competition Committee,” Woods, a 15-time major winner, said in a statement posted to X (formerly Twitter). “This is about shaping the next era of the PGA Tour — for our fans, players and partners. Thanks to Brian Rolapp for his vision and leadership, and grateful to the committee members for their willingness to participate.”
Rolapp announced the formation of the committee during his press conference on Wednesday (US time) at East Lake Golf Club, the site of this week’s Tour Championship.
“The goal is not incremental change,” Rolapp said. “The goal is significant change.”
The committee will also take suggestions from fans, players and “partners” to ensure any potential changes honour “the traditions of the game without being overly bound by them.”
The nine-member committee includes:
Theo Epstein – Senior Advisor, Fenway Sports Group; Former General Manager, Boston Red Sox and President of Baseball Operations, Chicago Cubs
Tiger Woods (Chairman) – Player Director, PGA TOUR Policy & PGA TOUR Enterprises Boards
Patrick Cantlay – Player Director, PGA TOUR Policy & PGA TOUR Enterprises Boards
