We all know Brooks Koepka enters ‘Beast mode’ at the majors, but what’s often overlooked about the 33-year-old five-time major winner is that he took pro golf’s hard road to stardom.

Rather than remain in the comfortable confines of his native country, at age 22 Koepka eschewed the United States and instead opted to play on the secondary Challenge Tour in Europe, which visits exotic places such as India, Kenya and Kazakhstan. It was in India that Koepka took time out to film a video for the then-European Tour in which he haggles for a cheaper price at a market and gets just a little freaked out by the road system while being a passenger in a tuk-tuk.

Check out the retro film here:

This version of Koepka is clearly unaffected by the world, the rigours of constant travel and the persistent scrutiny of the golf media, but we also like the spirit of adventure on show here. He can probably draw on it again when his new professional home – LIV Golf – next ventures somewhere new.
