RYAN Ruffels didn’t cash the $AU1.5 million cheque that Farmers Insurance Open winner Brandt Snedeker did, but $29,338 isn’t a bad payday for your first event as a pro.
The 17-year-old finished in a share of 43rd after rounds of 70-74-74-76 gave him a 5-over par total.
Ruffels brushed of a public criticism from Phil Mickelson to open the event at Torrey Pines – where he has won a world junior championship title – with a 2-under par round, but drifted away over the weekend.
Former FedEx Cup champion Sneaker won the weather-delayed event with 6-under par total, while Australian Aaron Baddeley enjoyed a top-10 finish.
Defending champion Jason Day missed the cut.
After all that, it's an eagle to end my first week as a pro!! Got a bit of everything this week. Thank you to everyone @FarmersInsOpen
