Top-ranked Auburn, reigning national champion Oklahoma State, Virginia, Florida, Texas and Arkansas earned top seeds when the NCAA Division I men’s golf committee revealed on Wednesday the 81 schools and 45 individuals who will be playing in the six 2025 NCAA Men’s Regional tournaments being held around the country May 18-20.

The top five teams from each regional and the low individual not on those teams advance to the NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, Calif., May 29-June 3.

Fifteen SEC teams earned NCAA postseason berths, the most of any conference. The ACC and Big 12 each got 12 teams into the field while the Big Ten had six teams qualify.

Auburn has won five team titles in the 2025-26 season. The Tigers are led by junior Jackson Koivon, who is having a historic season with six individual wins in his last eight starts. Auburn won the NCAA title two years ago and reached match play in 2025.

But standing in the Tigers way is the defending champion, Oklahoma State. A year ago at Omni LaCosta, the Cowboys beat Virginia in the finals to claim the school’s 12th men’s national golf championship. All five starters from last season’s squad—Preston Stout (three-time Big 12 medalist), Ethan Fang (British Am champion), Gaven Lane, Eric Lee and Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson—are back competing again. The last school to repeat as men’s winners was Alabama in 2013 and 2014. Meanwhile, there’s guaranteed to be a new individual winner as last year’s medalist, Ole Miss’s Michael LaSasso, turned pro earlier this season.

This is the 17th year the men’s national championship is including match play to decide the team champion. The tournament begins with a 72-hole stroke-play segment to crown an individual champion (who will earn exemptions into the U.S. Open this summer and next year’s Masters) and whittle the field down to eight schools. Those teams will then compete in a head-to-head match-play bracket.

Thirty-nine programs have advanced to match play since the format was adopted in 2009, with Oklahoma State having the most appearances with 10, followed by Illinois (nine) and Texas (eight).
