Wilson Staff Model golf balls (2024): Wilson’s Staff Model golf ball not only has received an update, but gets a twin as well. Previously a single model, now the balls come in the standard Staff Model and a firmer Staff Model X.
Both are four-piece, cast-urethane construction with an emphasis on delivering low spin off the tee and high spin around the greens. The Staff Model has a mid-compression core for a slightly softer feel and flatter trajectory. The Staff Model X has a compression of 104 and is the firmest ball in Wilson’s entire line and produces added height on approach shots.
Wilson engineers tested prototypes with its advisory staff members and the following tour players have put the ball in play: Brendan Steele, John Augenstein, Quade Cummins, Ricky Barnes, Martin Trainer and Willie Mack III.
“The fact that we have tour players making the switch to play our Staff Model balls speaks volumes to the favorable numbers they are obtaining on launch monitors,” said Frank Simonutti, global director of golf ball Innovation. “Elite golfers looking for higher velocity and spin will benefit from the X ball while the new Staff Model will be the perfect choice for golfers who generate enough spin on their own.”
The Staff Model and Staff Model X will be available at retail in both white and yellow colors starting Jan. 12 at $55 a dozen.
