Last week, Viktor Hovland was one of the main characters in a testy rules spat with Daniel Berger at the Players Championship, the young Norwegian that Berger’s ball started a little farther right than Berger had thought, thus forcing Berger to drop much farther back than he wanted.

On Thursday at the Valspar Championship, it was Hovland’s ball that started a little farther right than he wanted, though there was fortunately no water involved. There was, however, a group on the next tee box, and thanks to a loud FORE right yell from Hovland, that group, consisting of Dustin Johnson, Jason Day and Bubba Watson, were able to cover their heads and get out of the way.

Johnson, in particular, showed off some cat-like reflexes:

This, folks, is textbook “FORE” behaviour all the way across the board. Hovland’s yell and point, DJ and Day immediately covering their heads, DJ diving out of the way like he just tossed a grenade. Hell of a job, all around. Others (not naming names) should take notes…
