In round one at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, world No.1 Scottie Scheffler appeared to walk across the line of world No.2 Cam Smith.
Although the PGA Tour took down the video – perhaps fearing it was controversial – screenshots showed Smith’s funny, confused looked as Scheffler strolled through, seemingly oblivious.
Scheffler was probably in the zone and made an honest mistake. Smith was certainly surprised, but he was a few feet back from his actual ball, getting a read, so it’s not like Scheffler literally walked across his line. Some social media users thought it might have been intentional from Scheffler, but the world’s top two golfers literally high-fived each other moments later:
