Breaks – good and bad – are a given in a round of golf. It’s what you do next that really counts.

Enter Cam Davis, the former Australian Open champion who broke through for his first win on the PGA Tour last month.

Playing in the first round of the Northern Trust tournament, the first leg of the three-week FedEx Cup Playoffs on the PGA Tour, the Sydneysider received an outrageously good break on the driveable par-4 16th hole at Liberty National Golf Club:

A tremendous break, for sure. But we liked the way he still rolled in the eagle putt. Oh, and also the cheeky grin he flashed afterwards.

The lucky break, and eagle, helped Davis card a two-under 69 to sit in a tie for 15th place. Here’s hoping good fortune smiles on him for the rest of the week.
