After clinching a hard-fought 34-10 victory over the Canberra Raiders on Saturday night, the Brisbane Broncos welcomed Queensland icon Cam Smith into their sheds for some post-game shenanigans.

No, not two-time Dally M Medallist and Origin legend Cam Smith. The real Cam Smith – the 2022 Open champion and captain of LIV Golf’s Ripper GC team. ‘Smithy’ might be renowned for his prowess on the golf course, but his heart beats just as fervently for his beloved NRL team. Ever wondered why Ripper GC’s team colours are maroon and gold?

A lifelong Broncos fan through and through, Smith couldn’t resist the opportunity to join his team’s inner-sanctum ahead of next week’s LIV Golf Adelaide event.

Back home after another top-10 finish at the Masters, ‘The Mullet’ caught the attention of the Fox League commentary team when cameras panned to the dressing rooms. Smith was greeted by all the players and then unceremoniously doused in beer as the party kicked off. Watch it here:

Clad in Broncos colours and his trademark Ripper GC hat, Smith looked every bit the devoted fan.

“There’s the famous Cameron Smith… not the footballer but the golfer singing the Broncos song,” said commentator Cooper Cronk. “He’s won some big (golf) tournaments but he’s having a good time.”

Amidst the laughter and camaraderie, Smith quite literally soaked in every moment, clearly grateful for the all-access pass to unwind a little bit before it’s time to switch into game-mode himself. All eyes will be on the Queenslander as he prepares to play in front of record crowds at Adelaide’s Grange Golf Club from April 26-28 as the travelling LIV Golf roadshow rolls into town.

Tournament organisers are predicting close to 100,000 people for the three-day, 54-hole event which will be headlined by boom recruit Jon Rahm.
