‘Happy Gilmore’ hasn’t been this hot since the Clinton Administration. Thanks to Adam Sandler’s absurdly viral tribute (5.2 million views and counting) on the film’s 25th anniversary, the iron has seemingly never been hotter for Happy, Shooter, Virginia, Gary Potter, Mr Larson, and the rest of the Professional Golfers Tour. And yet somehow, in this remake of a sequel of an adaptation of a world we live in, ‘Happy Gilmore 2,’ despite years of message board wishcasting and reddit fan fic, has still yet to see the light of day.

Our long wait may have finally come to an end overnight, however, when Adam Sandler and Christopher McDonald joined ‘The Dan Patrick Show’ to gab about their newly rediscovered rivalry. Midway through the conversation, Patrick shifted gears to the possibility, or lack thereof, of ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ and this is what the duo had to say about a potential return to the (now senior) Tour:

Well, there you have it folks. As official as the Ten Commandments themselves. “Are you both in?” Patrick asks while McDonald gives him the double thumbs up. “Sandman, can I green light this?”

“Yes. Yes, you can green light this.” Sandler replies, McDonald now fist pumping.

Nevermind the fact that Sandler tries to immediately backtrack, stammering out “I don’t know if we . . .” before Patrick cuts him off with a breaking-news bulletin. This is good enough for us and we’re going to run with it: ‘Happy Gilmore 2,’ coming soon to a theatre near you . . . probably, maybe.
