When Rory McIlroy smoked his drive to the fringe of the green at Monterey Peninsula’s par-4 fifth during this morning’s second round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, he wouldn’t have expected anything less than birdie.
But what was a potential eagle for the world No.8, who at the time was just four shots off the lead and playing with his father, quickly turned nasty when he elected to use putter.
