The waters were mighty calm at the US Open on Saturday afternoon, where the world’s best anglers could be found landing birdie after birdie on Torrey Pines’ South course.
None more literally than Justin Thomas, however, who put on a show fit for the Bassmasters Classic at the eighth hole, reeling in this par save with some seafairing flair. Bring her home, JT.
One second Thomas is rolling the windows down, about to go viral for all the wrong reasons, and the next he’s regained his balance, putting on a Shooter-esque show for the gallery. There’s a reason why he’s one of the few guys on tour everyone can agree upon, and this is it summed up nice and neat.
Ultimately the chip n’ reel only netted Thomas par, but you can’t complain when the fish were bitin’ like they were. The save helped Thomas stay four back of the leaders and remain firmly in the hunt on Moving Day. We still await word from the USGA on whether or not it was catch and release, but we’ll bring you that information when we have it.
