It’s been a tough couple of weeks for the RBC Canadian Open. When LIV Golf announced its inaugural schedule back in March, the RBC Canadian Open had the ignominious honour of being the very first conflict on the calendar.
For months, any discussion of the RBC Canadian Open centred not around the tournament, but which PGA Tour pros would be bold enough to skip it in favour of LIV Golf’s big-money bait. This week, we got that answer and as it turned out two of the biggest names on the list – Dustin Johnson and Graeme McDowell – were (now former) RBC ambassadors. Talk about a betrayal.
Instead of sitting around crying over a broken heart, however, the RBC Canadian Open quickly rebounded with a little help from their new partners, theScore Bet, who unveiled the tournament’s lofty new ‘Skyline Seats’ on Thursday.
If you’re afraid of heights, now is the time to get off the ride.
Talk about the nosebleeds, right? Except these aren’t the cheap seats. Far from it. A spot on the 22-patron sky bar, suspended 100 feet above St George’s Golf & Country Club, can only be scored by visiting one of theScore Bet’s activations – including the BETMode putting challenge and members lounge – once on the grounds.
If you’re lucky enough to book your spot, you’ll get 30 minutes of airtime above the 18th fairway. Food and beverages are included, but try not to drink too much. Reentry into the atmosphere could be a bit of a stomach churner.
