1 Cape Wickham Links — No.3 overall
Location: Golf Links Road, King Island
Renowned for its Aesthetics, Cape Wickham returns to the position it’s held four times before, edged out of second spot by a mere 0.03 points. This King Island layout remains a premium example of destination golf being worth the journey.
2 Barnbougle Dunes — No.6 overall
Location: Waterhouse Road, Bridport
Renowned for its Shot Options, the original Barnbougle course reaffirms its reputation for potency and popularity, ranking fourth overall for Aesthetics, one of just four courses nationally to draw average scores of 9 and above in that criterion.
3 Barnbougle Lost Farm — No.8 overall
Location: Waterhouse Road, Bridport
Renowned for its Shot Options, Lost Farm has nearly completed the set, occupying every position from sixth to ninth on the national ranking. Its Conditioning score improved further under new course superintendent Rod Hinwood.
4 7 Mile Beach — No.11 overall
Location: Surf Road, Seven Mile Beach, Hobart
Renowned for its Shot Options, the lone entirely new course on this year’s list, Mike Clayton and Mike DeVries’ waterside linksland layout near Hobart fell just short of cracking the top 10 nationally despite being open for only three months of the ranking cycle.
5 Ocean Dunes — No.17 overall
Location: Golf Links Road, King Island
Renowned for its Aesthetics, the newest of the King Island courses turns 10 this year and remains firmly in the “teens” of the national ranking. Ocean Dunes’ genius green complexes and exceptional Bass Strait setting give it instant gravitas.
6 Tasmania Golf Club — No.100 overall
Location: Acton Road, Barilla Bay, Hobart
Back inside the Top 100 for the first time in a decade, Tasmania Golf Club is enjoying renewed attention thanks to its proximity to the new 7 Mile Beach course, while standing on its own merits beside spectacular Barilla Bay.
