Tiger Woods’ range session at the Hero World Challenge pro-am was the ball-striking clinic of the century

We’re not sure if you’ve heard the news, but Tiger Woods IS FREAKING BACK BABYYYY, LET’S GOOOOO!

OK, OK. You’ve definitely heard. Nobody hasn’t. And obviously there’s no way of knowing if he’s back back until he tees it up today at 11:52am, Bahamas time. If this one-minute supercut of his range session at the Hero World Challenge pro-am is any indication, however, all systems are a go, permission to launch granted, Houston, we have lift off.

That’s a stripe show that would make a pack of zebras blush. Woods hasn’t played professional golf since the Masters, so there’s bound to be some rust, but watching him work through his bag like a Bridgestone QC robot is a really encouraging sign. Maybe he’s finally healthy. Maybe he’s got one more in him. Eighty-three isn’t a nice round number, but it sure beats 82.

Regardless, Woods has nothing left to prove and nothing more to win, so make sure to savour the spectacle while you can. He may be half bionic at this point, but not even machines last forever.
