THE 2015/16 US PGA Tour season is set to open with fireworks next month, following world No.2 Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods committing to the Frys.com Open.
With 18 Major championship victories between them, Woods and McIlroy confirmed they will start at the season opener in California on October 15.
Woods has only played the tournament once, finishing T30 in 2011.
“Everyone in Northern California is looking forward to this exciting tournament at Silverado,” said tournament host Johnny Miller.
The news is a huge boost to golf in October, with the Presidents Cup being held October 6-11 at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club, Korea.
