DON’T believe everything you read in the tabloid newspapers. That appears to be the message 14-times Major champion Tiger Woods and 2013 US PGA Championship winner Jason Dufner are sending out by playing a practice round together at St Andrews.
On Sunday, Woods and Dufner played a practice on the Old Course at St Andrews ahead of the British Open which begins on Thursday.
The round was in full view of the public, with ‘Duf Daddy’ and Tiger sharing jokes and essentially making the reports look foolish.
US tabloid the National Enquirer published a story two weeks ago, alleging Tiger Woods split with Lindsey Vonn after he was rumoured to be romantically involved with Dufner’s ex-wife, Amanda.
“Even though Tiger dated Lindsey for years, he had a ‘thing’ for Amanda. At first, it was just innocent flirting, but earlier this year it became serious,” the story claimed.
Tiger’s agent Mark Steinberg issued a statement claiming the report to be false.
“Absolutely 100 per cent false,” said Steinberg. “Complete lie and fabrication.”
