Fans, sorry, patrons, attending this year’s Masters will see a new menu item at Augusta National. At least, we think.

On Tuesday, the club announced the tomato pie would be making its limited debut at the 2025 Masters tournament. Billed as “A Southern tradition, reimagined,” the handheld food looks like an empanada.

And it looks like it could be good—especially given Augusta National’s impeccable track record when it comes to concessions. So what’s the problem? Well, the timing of the announcement on April Fool’s Day had everyone—even the Augusta Chronicle—confused.
The Masters taking advantage of 4/1 too.

Is this an April Fools prank?

Southern Italian tradition maybe?
🤔
Something about today makes me feel this is not quite right…

3 questions:
1) This is an April Fools prank, right?
2) Is a tomato pie a pizza?
3) Did Augusta just post a hot pocket?— Johnny Sandbag (@JohnnySandbag) April 1, 2025
Take my money! (probably $1.50 at a time)
Jk, I don't have tickets. Looking for Tuesday if anyone has extras.

Hand up, we were just as leery about it when we first saw the tweet. However, after no follow-up tweets and the fact that it’s still up 24 hours later, we’re going to assume it’s real. We also wouldn’t expect Augusta National to pull an April Fool’s prank, but even Tiger Woods is trying them these days so you never know.
Anyway, if you’re going to the Masters this year, it appears you’re in for an extra treat. Literally. If you’re into tomato pies, that is. Again, we think.
