After missing 2023 due to some calendar shenanigans and schedule adjustments, the Houston Open returns to Memorial Park Golf Course, as will Tony Finau, the defending champ … from November 2022.

Finau will look to run it back in Texas, but one Texas resident is standing in the way, looking to make some history of his own. That golfer is World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who will have an opportunity to win three straight PGA Tour events in his first start since victories at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Players. Scheffler could become the first golfer to win three straight on the PGA Tour since Dustin Johnson in 2017.

As for Finau, the 34-year-old six-time tour winner has made seven of eight cuts so far this season but hasn’t won an event since last April. He shot a 16-under 264 last time he played this course, so he’s certainly hoping that stellar play continues at Memorial Park.

Along with Scheffler and Finau, we’re set to see quite a few top-30 tour pros from Wyndham Clark to Sahith Theegala to Jason Day to Will Zalatoris. Sam Bennett, the 2022 U.S. Amateur champion, will make his 2024 PGA Tour debut, and journeyman Kris Ventura will be back on the PGA Tour for the first time since September 2021.

The winner will receive 500 FedEx Cup points and a $1.638 million share of the $9.1 million purse.

Memorial Park Golf Course Public Memorial Park Golf Course Houston, TX 3.8 34 Panelists A significant renovation was completed by Tom Doak (in collaboration with Brooks Koepka) to transform the old municipal course at Memorial Park—which hosted the first Houston Open in 1947 and then again from 1951 through 1965—into a layout worthy of being a PGA Tour venue. Originally built in 1912 at a hospital near Camp Logan for recovering soldiers to use, architect John Bredemus redesigned the course in 1935 and added a second nine. Now with signature Doak green complexes and tour-level conditioning, Memorial Park is once again a must-play in the state and averages 60,000 rounds a year. View Course TV Schedule
