The stars truly aligned for Asian golf during one glorious Sunday in October as three young talents, Kevin Yu of Chinese Taipei, China’s Wenyi Ding and Kaito Onishi of Japan [above], put an exclamation mark on the importance of the various global pathways that lead to the sport’s ultimate destination, the PGA Tour.
Making putts is the thing Yu did best in Mississippi. He ranked second in strokes gained/putting, bettering the field average by nearly nine shots while averaging 108 feet of putts made per round, also topping the field in that stat.
It turns out, the seven Kevins – including 18-hole leader Kevin Streelman – tied a PGA Tour record. It also turns out the PGA Tour keeps track of such things. That’s impressive in its own right.
