Starting today (Wednesday in Hawaii), Kapalua’s Bay course is offering tee-times, with the more famous Plantation course set to re-open in mid-October.
PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan held his first public press conference since returning from medical leave, and reporters were keen to know the progress on the framework deal with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), which finances LIV Golf.
Monahan couldn’t provide many concrete details to the ongoing discussions with PIF’s proposed investment in what is called the “NewCo” but is confident that an agreement can be reached by year’s end.

The Senate finance committee has introduced legislation that would revoke the PGA Tour’s tax exemption status and deem Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund ineligible for lucrative tax breaks.
PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan announced initiatives on a “Player Benefit Program” to compensate players who remained with the tour and “Player Discipline” for LIV Golf members who seek to return to the tour.
Both players cited what will surely be widespread trust issues with the man in charge and both, understandably, pleaded ignorance as to what has been going on behind the scenes in what is supposed to be a member’s organisation.
