The feeling going into the week was that if the USGA couldn’t get Pebble Beach right, perhaps it shouldn’t even bother showing up at Winged Foot next year.
A 3-under par round of 68 saw Scott finish as the leading Australian in a tie for seventh at 6-under for the week but midway through his round he was in position to add to his 2013 Masters triumph.
These guys aren’t among the favourites this week at Bellerive Country Club, but under the right circumstances they could all find themselves in contention come Sunday.
