As the PGA Tour returns to action next week at the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, it will mark the first tournament play in some three months.
PGA Tour officials have offered further details on their health and safety plans with a 34-page “Participant Resource Guide”, which was sent to players overnight.
In a memo to the tour membership that has been seen by Golf Digest, David Park, a former Walker Cup player and the European Tour’s head of player relations, outlined a situation that he says “continues to evolve.”
The resumption of the PGA Tour’s season is still two weeks away, but players are already being reminded of steps they’ll need to take and the new normal in a COVID-19 world.
With the backdrop of the KLPGA Championship being the first significant women’s professional tournament conducted since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, and with no fans in attendance, Park’s maiden victory on the KLPGA circuit will always be remembered for more than that.
