Because of a lower drag co-efficient, the ball is able to cut through the air with less resistance for greater speed and maintain a penetrating launch. Meanwhile, the higher lift co-efficient pushes up on the ball throughout its trajectory and slows its fall, forcing it to stay in the air longer for maximised distance.
