STEP aside Greg Norman, there’s a new golf commentator in town, and you might remember him from a certain smash hit Adam Sandler film.
That’s right, Shooter McGavin – made famous as the villain golfer in Sandler’s iconic golf film Happy Gilmore – probably wasn’t given media accreditation at Chambers Bay, but he was calling each shot of the US Open from his Twitter account.
The timeless character’s Twitter account has 272,000 followers, and his ‘about’ section reads, “Former #1 golfer in the world and an all-around bad guy.”
McGavin was quick to distance himself from Dustin Johnson’s heartbreaking three-putt on the 72nd hole.
People need to stop comparing Dustin Johnson’s choke job to mine. Let’s remember, I MADE my putt on 18. There was no 3-putt from Shooter.

Predictably, McGavin worked memorable quotes from the movie into his commentary.
